The buttery-white snack of popcorn brimming in a classic red-and-white-striped carton, as enjoyed at a&nbsp;<a href="/cinema/">movie theater</a>.&nbsp;

May be used to express engagement (&ldquo;edge of one&rsquo;s seat&rdquo;).

Popcorn

A <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joystick">joystick</a>, as used in playing classic arcade, computer, or video games. Generally depicted with a black base, red-knobbed control stick, and one or more red buttons.

Commonly used for content concerning various types of gaming; occasionaly applied to aviation and aircraft.

Google&#39;s base was <a href="/google/android-8.0/joystick/">previously</a>&nbsp;blue, and&nbsp;Microsoft <a href="/microsoft/windows-10/joystick/">previously featured</a> a more modern design.

Headphones, used to listen to music or other forms audio, such as podcasts.&nbsp;Most platforms display this emoji with large over-ear headphones in shades of black, blue, and gray.

Apple previously displayed&nbsp;this emoji as <a href="/apple/ios-10.0/headphone/" title="🎧 Headphone on Apple iOS 10.0">iconic iPod white earbuds</a>, followed by black&nbsp;<a href="/apple/ios-10.2/headphone/">Beats headphones in 2016</a>, and in 2021 switched <a href="/apple/ios-14.5/headphone/">to display white AirPods Max</a>.

Headphone

A <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pager">pager</a>, as worn on the waist to alert a person to a phone call&nbsp;or short text message. Popular in the 1980&ndash;90s before <a href="/mobile-phone/">mobile phones</a>, though still used by some medical and emergency personnel. A <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fax">fax</a> machine, as scans and transmits documents over a telephone line. Common in the 1980&ndash;90s before the internet. Depicted as a white or black machine with a <a href="/telephone-receiver/">telephone handset</a>, keypad, display screen, and paper in its tray.

Sometimes used in emoji&nbsp;form as&nbsp;an alternative to the words&nbsp;facts, due to the similarity of pronounciation. In a sentence:&nbsp;&quot;all 📠 no 🖨&quot;

Fax Machine

A <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MiniDisc">minidisc</a>, depicted as a small, silver or gold <a href="/optical-disk/">optical disc</a> housed in a square cartridge, its shutter positioned to the right.

<a href="http://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2013/02/sony-announces-the-end-of-the-minidisc/">Discontinued</a> as an audio and data storage format in 2013 due to the success of CD and MP3 technology, though the emoji is commonly used to represent CDs, DVDs, and related film and music content, especially albums.

Samsung&rsquo;s design <a href="/samsung/experience-9.0/computer-disk/">previously featured</a> a silver disc labeled MD, for minidisc. <a href="/au-kddi/type-a-2/computer-disk/">Early designs</a> from au by KDDI showed an angled <a href="/floppy-disk/">💾 Floppy Disk</a>, perhaps as being inserted or ejected into a computer drive.

Commonly used to represent CDs, DVDs, Blu-rays, and related film and music content, especially albums.

Commonly used for various content concerning movies, film, video, and photography as well as an icon for a video or picture, as before an upload, link, or credit.

Apple&rsquo;s design features an S-shaped, sepia-tinged strip.

Film Frames

A classic film projector, as projects <a href="/film-frames/">film</a> onto a screen for viewing. Generally depicted as a black or gray projector with two mounted reels and lens pointed right.

Commonly used for various content concerning movies, film, and video as well as an icon for a video, as before an upload, link, or credit.

WhatsApp&rsquo;s design is green, while&nbsp;Google&rsquo;s was <a href="/google/android-8.0/film-projector/">previously</a>&nbsp;blue.

Film Projector

A classic television set, as people watched before streaming on flatscreens.&nbsp;Depicted in various colors and styles with a screen, knobs, and, on many platforms, rabbit-ear antennae.

Commonly used for television broadcasting as well as various content involving screens, from watching <a href="/movie-camera/">movies</a> to playing <a href="/video-game/">video games</a>.

Google&rsquo;s design <a href="/google/android-8.0/television/">previously</a> featured&nbsp;a more modern-looking orange TV.&nbsp;Apple&rsquo;s <a href="/apple/iphone-os-2.2/television/">first design</a> was yellow, while&nbsp;Microsoft&rsquo;s <a href="/microsoft/windows-10/television/">previous design</a> was a flatscreen.

Television

A video camera, as a <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Camcorder">camcorder</a> used to film home videos in the 1980&ndash;90s. Generally depicted as a gray or black video camera with viewfinder, control buttons, and lens pointed&nbsp;left.

Commonly used for various content concerning film and video as well as an icon for a video, as before an upload, link, or credit.

Samsung&rsquo;s is fitted with a <a href="/microphone/">microphone</a>. Google&rsquo;s design was <a href="/google/android-8.0/video-camera/">once&nbsp;blue</a> and also&nbsp;<a href="/google/android-7.0/video-camera/">previously featured</a> a flip screen.

Video Camera

The front page of a newspaper, as people once read the news before the internet. Commonly used for various content concerning news, media, and journalism as well as personal news.

Most platforms depict a nondescript masthead, images, and columns of text. Apple&rsquo;s newspaper is called The Apple Times, featuring a logo based on its&nbsp;<a href="/eagle/">🦅 Eagle</a> and a picture of its <a href="/volcano/">🌋 Volcano</a>. Facebook&rsquo;s is called Daily Feed, with a headline &ldquo;El Capitan&rdquo; and picture of that famous <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/El_Capitan">rock formation in Yosemite National Park</a>. WhatsApp&rsquo;s paper reads Daily News with a picture of a <a href="/world-map/">map</a>.

An eject symbol, displayed as an upward-pointing triangle above a horiztonal bar. May be used as a physical button or an icon in a user interface. Eject Symbol
