Like the <a href="/apple-logo/">Apple logo</a>, this character is not recommended for interchange&nbsp;as it is only intended for&nbsp;support&nbsp;on Twitter platforms.

A generic bird. Variously depicted as a blue or red bird, as a bluebird or cardinal, shown standing in full profile, or as a bird head.&nbsp;Both designs&nbsp;show the bird facing left.

May be used for a variety of wild and pet birds as well as for metaphorical senses of bird (e.g., <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Par_(score)#Birdie">birdie</a> in <a href="/flag-in-hole/">golf</a>).

Apple and WhatsApp&rsquo;s designs feature a grayish bird head. Google, Samsung, and Facebook&rsquo;s designs suggest a bluebird, Microsoft and Twitter&rsquo;s a cardinal. Google&rsquo;s bird <a href="/google/android-4.4/bird/">previously</a> resembled a canary, <a href="/samsung/experience-9.0/bird/">Samsung&rsquo;s</a> was previously green, and <a href="/microsoft/windows-10/bird/">Microsoft</a> and <a href="/twitter/twemoji-2.0/bird/">Twitter&rsquo;s</a> birds were once blue.

109 is a chain of Japanese department&nbsp;stores, with the most well known location being in Shibuya, Tokyo &mdash; Shibuya 109.&nbsp;An emoji&nbsp;of this store existed in the original Softbank emoji set in Japan, but did not get included as part of emoji standardization in <a href="/unicode-6.0/" title="Unicode Version 6.0">Unicode 6.0</a>.

This was one of the few emojis <a href="/apple/ios-5.0/shibuya/" title=" Shibuya on Apple iOS 5.0">available</a> in Apple iOS 6, that did not remain in future iOS or macOS releases. Despite this, it continues to be supported by&nbsp;<a href="/twitter/">Twemoji</a>.

The details of its <a href="https://github.com/googlei18n/emoji4unicode/issues/35">exclusion</a>&nbsp;are&nbsp;noted in Google&#39;s&nbsp;project to bring emoji into Unicode. The codepoint for Shibuya remains a <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Private_Use_Areas">Private Use Area</a>&nbsp;character where implemented.

The logo for Beats 1: a 24/7 online-only music streaming station owned by Apple.&nbsp;This character is not recommended for interchange&nbsp;as it is only intended for&nbsp;support&nbsp;on Apple platforms and only displays in the San Fransisco font used by Apple for system display purposes.

The logo for Apple Inc is a Private Use Area (PUA) character that is supported on iOS and macOS. This character is not recommended for interchange&nbsp;as it is only intended for&nbsp;support&nbsp;on Apple platforms.

As of August 2021, the Twitter website also displays this character as the Apple logo, in addition to another PUA character which displays the <a href="/twitter-logo/">Twitter logo</a>.

The flag for <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Refugee_Nation">Refugee Nation</a>;&nbsp;a proposal to create a new nation to resettle refugees. This flag uses a shade of&nbsp;orange commonly used for&nbsp;life vests and <a href="/ring-buoy/">life buoys</a>&nbsp;at sea. A thin, horizontal&nbsp;black stripe is shown in the lower-third.

Refugee Nation Flag

A cat that is also a <a href="/ninja/">ninja</a>. Used as an <a href="https://news.microsoft.com/life/ninja-cat/">unofficial&nbsp;mascot</a>&nbsp;by Microsoft, and was available&nbsp;in the Segoe Color Emoji font&nbsp;included with <a href="/microsoft/">Windows 10</a>.&nbsp;Ninja Cat was implemented&nbsp;as a proprietary <a href="/emoji-zwj-sequence/">ZWJ Sequence</a> which&nbsp;was not supported by other vendors.

Variations included&nbsp;<a href="/astro-cat/">🐱&zwj;🚀&nbsp;Astro Cat</a>,&nbsp;<a href="/hipster-cat/">🐱&zwj;👓&nbsp;Hipster Cat</a>,&nbsp;<a href="/hacker-cat/">🐱&zwj;💻&nbsp;Hacker Cat</a>,&nbsp;<a href="/dino-cat/">🐱&zwj;🐉&nbsp;Dino Cat</a>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<a href="/stunt-cat/">🐱&zwj;🏍&nbsp;Stunt Cat</a>.

Ninja Cat and its variations were&nbsp;removed in Microsoft&#39;s Fluent emoji redesign, released in late&nbsp;2021.
