The colorful arc of a rainbow, as may appear after rain. Generally depicted as the left half of a full rainbow, showing six bands of color: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and violet.

WhatsApp&rsquo;s design shows the right arc of rainbow disappearing into a cloud. Facebook&rsquo;s rainbow is displayed on a blue sky, as <a href="/apple/ios-6.0/rainbow/">Apple</a>, <a href="/samsung/experience-9.0/rainbow/">Samsung</a>, and <a href="/twitter/twemoji-1.0/rainbow/">Twitter&rsquo;s</a> previously were. <a href="/google/android-7.0/rainbow/">Google</a> and <a href="/microsoft/windows-10/rainbow/">Microsoft</a> previously displayed full rainbow arcs with clouds.

Rainbow

The face of a <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unicorn">unicorn</a>, a mythical creature in the form of a white <a href="/horse/">horse</a> with a single, long horn on its forehead. Generally depicted as a white horse head facing left with a pink or purple mane and a yellow or rainbow-colored horn.

In addition to the mythical unicorn, may be used to convey whimsy, fantasy, uniqueness, specialness, peace, and love. Often used for various content related to the <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LGBT_symbols#Unicorns">LGBTQ community</a>, thanks in part to its <a href="/rainbow-flag/">rainbow</a> colors on many platforms. Also often used in association with &ldquo;unicorn&rdquo; startups. Sometimes used as a rainbow or holographic accent color.

Vendors implement the emoji with the same or similar design as <a href="/horse-face/">🐴 Horse Face</a>, but with colorful hair and a horn.

Available as an Apple&nbsp;<a href="/animoji/">Animoji</a>.

WhatsApp&rsquo;s unicorn is facing right. Google&rsquo;s unicorn <a href="/google/android-7.0/unicorn/">previously</a> had a brown mane, <a href="/samsung/experience-9.0/unicorn/">Samsung&rsquo;s</a> a pink mane. Twitter&rsquo;s unicorn was <a href="/twitter/twemoji-2.0/unicorn/">previously</a> purple-colored with a blue mane.

Unicorn Face

A dove carrying an olive branch, a <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Doves_as_symbols">symbol</a> of <a href="/peace-symbol/">peace</a> in Western and Judeo-Christian culture. Depicted as a white bird in full profile facing left, flying as it holds a green sprig in its beak.

Commonly used to represent such sentiments as peace, love, hope, and reconciliation. Can also be&nbsp;used to discuss&nbsp;someone after they have passed away, i.e. expressing hope that they are now &quot;at peace&quot;.

Microsoft&rsquo;s dove was previously flying right, without an olive branch.

Dove of Peace

A butterfly, a beautiful winged insect whose larva is a <a href="/bug/">caterpillar</a>. Depicted with its wings outspread, as a blue-and-black <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Morpho">morpho butterfly</a> or orange-and-black <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monarch_butterfly">monarch butterfly</a>.

May be used to represent a moth and ideas of beauty and happiness.

Since December 2023 this emoji has been used to reference the social media platform <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bluesky">Bluesky</a>, due to the platform&#39;s logo being a blue butterfly.&nbsp;

Samsung&rsquo;s butterfly <a href="/samsung/experience-9.0/butterfly/">previously</a> resembled a monarch.

Butterfly

A <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shamrock">shamrock</a>, a clover-like plant. Depicted as a bright green sprig with three, heart-shaped leaves.

An emblem of <a href="/flag-ireland/">Ireland</a> and symbol of St. Patrick, said to use the shamrock to explain the Christian concept of the Holy Trinity. Commonly used on <a href="/st-patricks-day/">St. Patrick&rsquo;s Day</a> and in association with Irish culture and heritage.

Shamrock

A four-leaf clover, a symbol of good luck. Depicted as a bright green sprig of clover, with four, heart-shaped leaves.

Not to be confused with the three-leaf <a href="/shamrock/">☘️ Shamrock</a>, though this emoji does tend to spike in popularity on&nbsp;<a href="/st-patricks-day">St Patrick&rsquo;s Day</a>.

Four Leaf Clover

A chocolate-glazed donut (or doughnut) with&nbsp;<a href="/rainbow/">rainbow</a>&nbsp;sprinkles.

May be used to reference the slang term &quot;glazing&quot; -&nbsp;to over-praise or over-compliment someone.

WhatsApp features a pink glaze associated with&nbsp;The Simpsons. May resemble the&nbsp;<a href="/bagel/">Bagel</a>&nbsp;at small sizes.

Doughnut

A colorful lollipop made of swirled hard candy attached to a stick. Colors vary by platform, though most designs show rainbow colors or pinks and reds.

This emoji tends to spike in use around <a href="/halloween">Halloween</a>.

<a href="/samsung/experience-9.0/lollipop/">Samsung</a>, <a href="/microsoft/windows-10/lollipop/">Microsoft</a>, and <a href="/facebook/2.0/lollipop/">Facebook</a> all used to have pink and red designs, but have since opted for rainbow colors.&nbsp;

Lollipop

A fluffy, white cloud, as a <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cumulus_cloud">cumulus</a>. May be used as a weather icon to represent a cloudy or overcast day.

Twitter&rsquo;s design features two clouds.&nbsp;Google&rsquo;s cloud was <a href="/google/android-8.0/cloud/">previously</a>&nbsp;bluish.

Commonly used for various content concerning rainy weather. Occasionally used as a purple accent color.

Umbrella

A single, light blue droplet, as of water, sweat, or tears.

May be used for various types of liquid. May also be used to expression sadness, as in <a href="/crying-face/">😢 Crying Face</a>,&nbsp;or for various liquid-based slang expressions (e.g., drip, &ldquo;exceptional style, swagger&quot;).

Droplet

A colorful decorated&nbsp;container that comes in many shapes, a pi&ntilde;ata is filled with candy or toys. Hit to break open for celebrations such as <a href="/cinco-de-mayo/">Cinco de Mayo</a>, this is generally associated with <a href="/flag-mexico/">Mexico</a>.

Displayed as a donkey on some platforms, and as a three-dimensional star with 6&ndash;9 points on others.

Pinata

A square or rectangular window with glass panes. Most platforms show a wooden frame with two or four panels.

Used to talk about actual windows or metaphorical windows, which often represent opportunities, perspectives, or unique points of view.&nbsp;

Window

A circular symbol, commonly used as a&nbsp;representation of peace. Alternatives include the <a href="/victory-hand/" title=" ✌️ Victory Hand">Victory Hand</a>, or the <a href="/dove/" title=" 🕊 Dove of Peace">Dove of Peace</a>.

Peace Symbol

A flag with six colors of the rainbow, generally including red, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple. Commonly used by the LGBT movement as a gay pride flag, or simply&nbsp;pride flag and seen at <a href="/pride/">Pride events</a>.

In February 2019 misinformation was spread about a <a href="https://www.fastcompany.com/90309797/no-theres-not-a-new-anti-lgbt-emoji">so-called</a> &quot;anti-lgbt emoji&quot; which can be created using a combining character to show a black and white glyph like&nbsp;🚫 <a href="https://twitter.com/Emojipedia/status/1097962057071095809">on top of the rainbow flag</a>. This is <a href="https://blog.emojipedia.org/fun-emoji-hacks/">possible with any emoji</a> on supported platforms, in the same way keycaps are combining characters.
