May be used for its namesake expression,&nbsp;pear-shaped&nbsp;(&ldquo;prominent hips&rdquo; or &ldquo;failure&rdquo;).

In 2023 this emoji was coopted by the company <a href="https://pearring.co/">Pear</a> and its customers to note within their social media profiles that they are not in a relationship and are open to meeting a new romantic partner.

May also be used to reference the visual gag of&nbsp;&quot;slipping on a banana peel&quot;, representing an unexpected mishap or accident.

Thanks to its distinctive cleft, the emoji is most&nbsp;<a href="http://blog.emojipedia.org/how-we-really-use-the-peach/">commonly used</a> for &ldquo;buttocks.&rdquo; In certain contexts, the <a href="https://slate.com/technology/2019/09/peach-emoji-meaning-butt-impeachment.html">peach emoji may refer to&nbsp;impeachment</a>.

In 2016 Apple unveiled a <a href="https://x.com/Emojipedia/status/799291515285610500">new design</a> for the peach emoji during the iOS 10.2 beta period. This change would have deemphasized its&nbsp;distinctive cleft, leading to criticism from Apple users. Ultimately this change was not implemented.
