Shown with a <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pantograph_(transport)">pantograph</a>&nbsp;above the carriage on many platforms which makes it look more like a&nbsp;<a href="/tram-car/" title="🚋 Tram Car">tram car</a>.

Google&rsquo;s artwork <a href="/google/android-5.0/railway-car/">previously</a>&nbsp;looked&nbsp;like a <a href="/bus/" title="🚌 Bus">bus</a>&nbsp;and&nbsp;Microsoft&#39;s older versions&nbsp;appeared&nbsp;similar to a <a href="/microsoft/windows-10/railway-car/">minecart</a>.

Difficult to discern from a train at small sizes.

Light Rail

A station, presumed to be a <a title="🚆 Train" href="/train/">train</a> station. Displays a train alongside a platform, where passengers can board.

This emoji is generally shown as the front of the tram, on tracks. The intended usage of this emoji, instead of the <a title="🚋 Tram Car" href="/tram-car/">tram car</a> emoji is not clear.

Tram

Similar to a <a href="/train/" title="🚆 Train">train</a>, but running on a single track.&nbsp;Monorails are often found at <a href="/ferris-wheel/" title="🎡 Ferris Wheel">theme parks</a>, or other tourist destinations.

According to the <a href="https://www.threads.net/@parakeet/post/DDFEMb2vhFW?hl=en">designers</a>, Facebook&#39;s design for this emoji drew inspiration from the <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Disneyland_Monorail">Disneyland monorail</a>.

Monorail

A train and railway in the&nbsp;<a href="/mountain/" title="⛰ Mountain">mountains</a>.

Previously displayed as&nbsp;a <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Funicular">funicular</a> in <a href="/microsoft/windows-10/mountain-railway/">Microsoft&rsquo;s </a>artwork. Android also <a href="/google/android-7.0/mountain-railway/">previously</a> displayed&nbsp;this train as front-facing and&nbsp;<a href="/google/android-6.0.1/mountain-railway/" title="🚞 Mountain Railway on Google Android 6.0.1">leaving a tunnel</a>, which appeared&nbsp;similarly to the <a href="/metro/" title="🚇 Metro">metro emoji</a> at small sizes.

Mountain Railway

Tram Car

A railway track shown from a first-person perspective, as though someone is driving a <a href="/train">train</a> or <a href="/person-walking">walking</a> down the tracks a la Stand By Me.

The track is usually surrounded by foliage and <a href="/evergreen-tree">trees</a>, sometimes with <a href="/cloud">clouds</a> in the sky and <a href="/mountain">mountains</a> in the distance. Microsoft&#39;s design previously showed the track heading directly towards a large looming <a href="/mountain">mountain</a>.

Railway Track

Similar to a monorail, a suspension railway is elevated, but the vehicle is suspended under the track.
